College of Engineering, University of Diyala discussed a master dissertation a numerical investigation of free convection within a corrugated square cavity via using the response surface methodology by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ahmed Abdullah Fadhil.
The dissertation aimed at studying the improvement of heat transfer by free convection within a square corrugated porous cavity filled with pure water saturated with a porous medium by performing many procedures at the level of the shape of the gap and its location, as well as the other parameters that included the level of porosity and temperature differences and the intensity and direction of the magnetic field, via using numerical simulations in the ANSYS program, version 2020.
The dissertation demonstrated that the corrugation of the bottom wall of the cavity with a circular wave with a number of waves (N = 4) and a wavelength-to-width ratio (L = 1.25) improved convective heat transfer by 1.13 times compared to the straight bottom wall.
