During an online meeting with the Deans of Medical Colleges, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib stressed on adopting and taking into consideration of quality requirements and contexts during inauguration of medical colleges and the sobriety of examination centers in the equivalency of medical certificates. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib reviewed the importance of taking into consideration the scientific and procedural quality associated with the inauguration process of medical colleges and not to be lenient with the approved standards and determinants. His Excellency highlighted that this type of development is linked to high-quality requirements and contexts. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib urged that the sobriety of the examination centers are responsible for the equivalence of medical certificates, empowering students to achieve the goals of medical education, working on developing curricula via the relevant committees, interfacing science and enhancing the requirements of medical specializations. His Excellency added that it is important to integrate with the Ministry of Health in meeting the needs of medical colleges, as well as the cooperation and commitment of faculty members of specialized colleges with educational hospitals in light of the health challenges that face the country. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib directed the Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges to develop an integrated and strategic plan that covers Iraq’s needs in the specialties required by the next five- and ten-year plan in lighted of staffs, hospitals, devices and laboratory equipment. His Excellency called on holding a meeting of the Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges with the advanced administration of the Ministry of Health in order to achieve sustainable development and meet the requirements of the health reality. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib expressed the Ministry’s keenness on that the graduates of the sixth high school stage for the next academic year will be in the same pace with the university's plan, the number of hospitals and skills laboratories in which students practice practical and clinical medical training to maintain the scientific level and ensure the quality of the graduates. His Excellency also reviewed with the deans of medical colleges the visions and observations. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib appreciated the efforts the deans of medical colleges on focusing on quality requirements, covering practical aspects, taking into consideration the general situation, adapting with the rapid changes and communicating with the world in the innovations of knowledge and skills development among medical students in Iraq.
