During chairing the fourth regular Advisory Board meeting for 2023, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi directed to complete the fields of modernizing engineering and science curricula in universities in order to prepare for the application of the Bologna Process in the next academic year, complete the requirements for final exams for the second semester of the current academic year and take into account all service and logistical requirements and cooperate and integrate with Ministry of Education’s Directorates regarding secondary school exams.
Dr. Al-Aboudi also directed all the Ministry’s formations to complete the final accounts and send them to the Office of Financial Supervision and to complete the final accounts of the Higher Education funds, the dormitories departments support fund and advisory offices, as well as operating budget accounts and investment accounts. And grant them the necessary powers in accordance with the law and enable them to perform the tasks entrusted to them and hold educational workshops and symposiums to combat drugs.
The meeting reviewed the topics on the agenda and voted affirmatively on a number of decisions as the following:
▪️ Approving on the guide of accrediting the Bologna Process in Iraqi universities, which includes the type of academic system, student admission, registration, assessment and exams.
▪️ Adapting the official working hours in university institutions, starting from the next academic year to raise the absorptive capacity and fulfill the requirements of the Bologna Process according to the principles stipulated in the University Service Law and the Civil Service Law.
▪️ Addressing with the cases of fellowship students sent through the Scholarships Directorate before their appointment, by granting them unpaid leaves to complete course studies and multiple unpaid leaves intermittently for students in the research stage due to the presence of contractual admission for students under the fellowship contracts and to preserve the scholarships granted to Iraq.
▪️ Forming a ministerial committee to undertake the draft of the first amendment to the instructions of the Emeritus Professor.
His Excellency concluded the meeting by praising the efforts of universities and their faculty members and staffs in achieving performance indicators, interacting with knowledge variables and scientific discoveries and enhancing the requirements of academic reputation.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by the advanced staff and the Presidents of all public Universities.
