Higher Education: On Oil Extraction Waste Treatment Plant’s Inauguration The merged Ministry of Science and Technology inaugurated a plant to treat chemical and biological waste and oil and war residues in the south-west of Basra. The plant aimed at contributing in the process of purification of the environment of Basra which needs to treat the toxic and hazardous materials that accompany the extraction of oil as the station's function is to treat the residues that affect the environment and treat them into eco-friendly gases. The plant consisted of special incinerators to burn the hazardous waste and to treat them through another system. It is worth mentioning that the plant was established by the Directorate of Treating Chemical, Biological and Hazardous Waste and under the supervision of the merged Ministry of Science and Technology.
