College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master dissertation on simulation of the effect of absorption layer parameters on the performance of the photovoltaic solar cell via using the (AFORS-HET) program by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Noura Yassin Ali.
The dissertation aimed at simulating the effect of the absorption layer parameters on the performance of the photovoltaic solar cell and to know the most important parameters that lead to raise the efficiency of the photovoltaic solar cell.
The dissertation concluded that there is correspond between the values obtained from the experimental research with the theoretical results of the AFORS-HET simulation program and that the best thickness and concentration of the absorption layer (P-CIGS) obtained were (3 micrometers and 2E17), respectively, which achieved an efficiency of 11%, as well as the increase in temperatures on the efficiency of the solar cell in terms of a decrease in the open circuit voltage Voc, the short circuit current Jsc, an increase in the fill factor FF and a decrease in the efficiency of the solar cell Eff.
