College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master dissertation on estimating of some elements and vitamins for people with diabetes in the city of Kirkuk by spectroscopic methods by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ahmed Hawas Ahmed.
The dissertation reviewed determining the levels of omentin and chemerin in the serum of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and studying the relationship between omentin and chemerin in patients and their relation with retinopathy in type 2 diabetes.
The dissertation aimed at measuring the levels of trace elements such as zinc, magnesium and copper in the serum of patients with type 1 diabetes and comparing them with healthy people (control group) via using atomic absorption spectrometry, as well as studying different chemical factors such as vitamin D and ferritin in the serum of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
The dissertation concluded that the spectral analysis decreased omentin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, with higher chemerin levels compared to the control group.
