College of Health and Medical Technologies, Middle Technical University discussed master dissertation on the role of a dual-energy X-ray scanner in evaluating osteoporosis for patients with spine disease by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Zamzam Hussein.
The dissertation demonstrated a study of how to conduct a DEXR test used for patients with osteoporosis in the spine before surgery in order to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of X-rays in determining the disease.
The dissertation reviewed the existence of a close relationship between osteoporosis with age and family history of the patient with a deficiency in vitamins (calcium and D) with hyperparathyroidism, diabetes and smoking.
