Thi-Qar University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Geomorphological Assessment of Bashadim Valley Basin in Dohuk Governorate

College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Thi-Qar discussed a master dissertation on  the geomorphological assessment of the Bashadim Valley in Dohuk Governorate by the postgraduate student, Mr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdul-Karim Jamil.

 

The dissertation a geological study of the study area and it was found that it is located within the unstable range within the belt (Sulaymaniyah - Zakho), where the chronological age of the formations and sediments of the basin varies between the third time (the Pliocene), which includes the formations of (the hole, Bey Hassan, Injana, Blasby, Al-Muqdadiya) and the deposits of the fourth time (Holocene).


The dissertation highlighted the characteristics of altitude, as the highest height is (1300) meters above sea level in the northeastern parts of the basin at the source area, while the lowest height is (450 meters) above sea level in the southwestern parts at the downstream area of ​​the Khabur River and the two types of soils in the study area, shallow chestnut soil and deep chestnut soil, and several types of natural plants such as oak trees.
