College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Tikrit discussed a master dissertation on studying of radiation doses and atomic properties of materials equivalent to body tissues by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Rawa Majeed Khedir.
The dissertation aimed at finding the linear attenuation coefficient, the mass attenuation coefficient, and the free path rate.
The dissertation reviewed that the values of the atomic parameters are affected by the change of the reinforcement ratios and the energy of the gamma rays, and that increasing the reinforcement percentage of the samples leads to an increase in the attenuation coefficients and the molecular, atomic and electronic cross-sections, while increasing the reinforcement leads to a decrease in the free path rate and radiation doses.
