A joint research team in the Colleges of Education and Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah obtained a patent on improving the electrical properties of silicon via using the molar concentration effect of thin membranes (Fe2O3) for solar cell applications. The patent aimed at improving the efficiency of the solar cell via inventing a new mechanism for depositing oxides on silicon in order to overcome the difficulties that researchers face in depositing certain concentrations of oxides in the usual state. The patent reviewed silicon etching and determination of the molar concentration of the reactants involved in the manufacturing of solar cell as well as conducting process of controlling the iron oxide precipitation on silicon slices via changing both the sediment temperature and the molar concentration. The patent highlighted improving the efficiency of the solar cell and obtaining a light in reverse bias with a thousand times more than the dark current.
