College of Engineering, University of Diyala held a symposium on implementations of renewable energy and rationalization of consumption. The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, reviewed three main axes, the first was on theoretical and practical data on alternative electric energy sources, renewable, green energy generation technologies, reducing pressure on the national electric power during rush time as well as developing awareness of environmental hazardous, risks of global warming and the statement of material benefits resulting from reducing the size of the electricity bill. The symposium also reviewed that the second axis was on awareness aspect of rationalizing consumption, reality of the national electricity network, identifying the most important problems and obstacles, increasing efficiency of the network, addressing the negative effects of the excesses and the amount of economic losses resulting. The symposium highlighted that the third axis was on producing smart metrics in Diyala Electric Industries Company, their specifications, their most important advantages and comparing them with the currently used traditional metrics. It is worth mentioning that the symposium recommended implementing the technology of using solar cells to generate energy for government institutions and houses.
